MY FINAL BLOG POST!

 Hi everyone!

Today I will be talking about my Educational Technologies course journey and my thoughts on this term.

First of all, I'm glad that I took this course. When I first saw this course name, I thought that it is probably one of the typical courses that offer subjects such as using Microsoft Word, Excel, and so on. It definitely shocked me when I found out that this course has many creative, productive, and useful subjects to offer. Before taking this class, I would only think that technology can only be integrated by using certain apps or popular websites and social media platforms such as Edmodo, YouTube, Zoom, PowerPoint, Duolingo, and British Council. I still think that these are useful apps and websites but now I know that there are MANY OTHERS! This course literally made me realise that I'm not aware of how many opportunities we have with the integration of technology. I also realised that I can benefit from technology more while I'm learning.

This term we had many tasks and my favourites are digital storytelling and podcasting. I love narrating and vocalising and I had the chance to personalize my work while doing these tasks. I generally love the tasks in which I can reflect on my own thoughts. I love it when my tasks are authentic.

My least favourite task is the padlet task because we had to choose certain topics and they generally didn't allow me to reflect on myself while doing it.  However, I still liked it as the tool itself was useful and inspired me to use it while doing other tasks.

For me, group tasks were the best tasks of all, and maybe adding more collaborative tasks to the course plan might improve it.

I am so glad that I had the chance to meet with these tools and tasks and to have my own blog. I sincerely appreciate my professor, Dr. Kurt for her lovely lectures, creative tasks, and all her efforts.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any ideas, questions, and comments.

     Goodbye!

Creating A Grammar Teaching Video-A Group Project

Hi everyone!     Today, I will be sharing our grammar teaching video and grammar worksheet. I already shared my thoughts on flipped class with you, please visit my previous post if you want to check it out. However, I want to discuss it specific to grammar teaching. Grammar teaching is a time-consuming activity in the classroom. Students are generally silently sit and listen to the teacher, which is not exactly what we need in the classroom. We need learners to be active. Flipped grammar teaching paves the way for the learners to be more active and self-confident. It reduces the time spent on lecturing. I find flipped classroom beneficial specifically when teaching grammar and I'd love to use it with my students.     As for the video and worksheet, first we examined the workbook and decided on the grammar subject we want to work on. Then, we created a lesson plan and text to voice-over. After Yaren and I voice-overed the text, we discussed which tool to us...

Creating a Tehnology-Enhanced Project

Hello everyone,     Today, I will share our technology-enhanced project with you. The task was to redesign a project to make it technology-integrated. It was a group task, my teammates were Yaren and Oğuz. We chose our project from MEB's Preparatory Class Student's Book. Here are the original project steps: Prepare your own poster about how to protect our nature and write your slogan on it as in the examples below.      Then, present your poster to your friends.      In the original project, there are not enough steps to explain the porject and it is not integrating any use of technology. Also, the project is not giving a chance for the students to facilitate self-learning or practice their language skills.      The original project involves creating a poster which is composed of a slogan and a visual. We changed it with creating an infographic which involves visuals and data. Creating an infographic requires students to d...

A Digital Poster- Lord of the Flies Movie Poster

Hello to all of you!     Today, I will be talking about creating a digital poster task. The task includes 2 options. You can create a movie poster imagining that the book you're reading is being made into a movie, or you can create a magazine cover.       I chose the movie poster option because I wanted to cast the stars as I imagined the book characters to be. Also, I thought it would be better to stick with Lord of the Flies book as I reviewed it before. You can see my book review here.       I used Poster My Wall website to create my poster. It was easy to use. However, to me,  it doesn't support creativity, unfortunately. I think this tool can be very useful to fulfill tasks like creating invitation cards( birthday party, wedding, conference, etc.), thank you cards, special day cards (Mother's Day, Christmas, etc.), or flyers. When I was a 4th or 5th-grade student, my teachers used to give me creating a birthday party invitation...
